13 days trip itinerary
1 day. Italy – Tashkent
Departure from Italy with TURKISH AIRLINES or AEROFLOT flight Arrival in Tashkent. Meeting with the group guide. Transfer to the hotel.
2 day. Tashkent – Urgench – Khiva (flight + 30km)
Breakfast. Visit to the Chorsu Bazaar where a variety of local agricultural products and handicrafts are on sale. Then visit the modern city: Amir Temur square, Independence square (Mustaqillik Maydoni) and the Palace of Friendship between Peoples, behind which the blue dome of the Oliy Majlis (the parliament) emerges. Stop at the 19th century Abul Kasim madrassa, now a handicraft shop. Afternoon visit of the old city: the mausoleum of Abu Bakr Kaffal Shoshi, the architectural complex of Khazrat Imam of the Barak Khan Madrassa, the Telyashayakh Mosque with the immense Koran of Osamak, the oldest in the world dating back to 655. Visit of the Kukeldash Madrassa, the Juma Mosque, the nearby Khast Imom square and the mausoleums of Yunus Khan. Transfer to the airport to take the flight HY 57K TASUGC 1840 2020 Tashkent – Urgench. Arrival in Urgench. Transfer to Khiva. Overnight at the hotel.
3 day. Khiva (excursion)
Breakfast. Visit Madrasa Mohammed Amin Khan, Kalta Minor, the old Fortress Kukhna Ark. (with Zidon, Khans’ Prison, Summer Mosque, Mint, Archaeological Museum, Oq Shihbobo Bastion, 24m Tower, Winter Mosque, Mohammed Rahkim Khan Madrasah, Silk Carpet House, Pahlavon Mohammed Mausoleum, Sayid Alauddin Mausoleum, Sherghozi Khan Madrasah/Mosque, Islom Madrasah, Uch Avlya Mausoleum, Juma Mosque, Dost Alyam Madrasah, Tosh-Khovli Palace and Kutlimurodimok Madrasah, Alloquli Khan Madrasah, the typical bazaar and Alloqulihon caravanserai. Overnight at the hotel.
4th day. Khiva – Ayaz Kala – Khiva (100 km+hiking+100km)
Breakfast. Transfer to Ellik Kala. Toprak Kala castle is located 75 km north-east of Khiva. The castle was built in the Eftalitlar period (3rd-4th century AD). From Toprak Kala castle, you can also see excavations of Ayaz Kala castle, villages, which built in the 6th-7th century BC. Return to Khiva. Hotel accommodation. Overnight hotel.
5th day. Khiva – Bukhara (480 km)
Breakfast. Early morning breakfast and departure for Bukhara. A long journey through the desert crossed by the Amu-Darya & Syr-Darya fumes, those diverted at the time of the USSR to irrigate the cotton fields and which caused the desertification of the Aral Sea. Overnight at the hotel.
6th day. Bukhara (excursion)
Breakfast. Days dedicated to visiting Bukhara. You will visit the Ismail Samani Mausoleum, the remains of the ancient walls, the Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, the Bolo-Hauz Mosque, the Ark ll Fortress in Zindon, the prison, the Registan square “sandy place”, the Kalon Minaret, the Kalon Mosque, the Mir-i-Arab Madrasah, the old Madrasah of Amir Khan, the Taqi-Zarganon bazaar, the Madrasah of Abul Aziz Khan; the Ulugbek Madrasah, the Tim Abdullah Khan market, the Taqi-Telpak Furushon, a short tour of the Jewish ghetto, the Lyabi Hauz Square, the Maghoki Attar Mosque, the Taqi-Sarrafon, the Nadir Divanbegi Mosque, the Madrasah of Nadir Divanbegi; the Khanaka (hostel). It ends with a visit to the Char Minar, (in Tajik “four minarets”). Overnight at the hotel.
7th day. Bukhara (70 km + excursion)
Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to the outskirts of the city. Near Bukhara is the memorial complex of the protector of Bukhara, Sheikh Bakha ad-Din Nakshband. (16th century) – Nakshbnad (1318-1389), founder of the tarikat “nakshbandiya”. Religious complex, the place is sacred for Muslims. Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa (until the 19th century – early 20th century) – “where the moon meets the stars”. The new Sitorai-Mokhi-Khosa complex was built during the reign of Alim Khan. Located 6 km, north of Bukhara. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.
8th day. Bukhara – Yangigazgan (240 km + visit + yurt)
Breakfast. In the morning departure from Bukhara and drive to the yurt camp located in the Kyzylkum desert (230 km). On the way stop at the workshop of the masters of ceramics Gijduvan – Museum of Ceramics Gijduvan. Stop in the town of Nurata to visit a local mosque with a spring of holy water. The small town of Nurata is located at the foot of the Nuratau mountains, which stretches for hundreds of kilometers from Jizzakh and Barren Steppe to Navoi and the Kyzylkum desert. In the afternoon drive to the yurt camp in the Kyzylkum desert. Stop on the Nurata pass to see the petroglyphs. Arrival in Safari Yurt Camp, accommodation in yurt.
DAY 9: YANGIKAZGAN – SAMARKAND (270 km total + lake)
Breakfast. In the morning visit to the lake in the desert Aydarkul. If the weather permits you can swim in the lake. Transfer to Samarkand. Arrival and free time. Overnight at the hotel.
10th day. Samarkand (excursion)
Breakfast then day dedicated to the excursion to the city. Visit to the Gur-Emir mausoleum (15th century) – which means “the tomb of the emir” is located where Tamerlane and his followers are buried. The mosque of Bibi-Khanim (15th century) – with gigantic architecture also built by order of Tamerlane after his campaign in India, to show his power, to do so he deported thousands of Indian artisans to Samarkand. The Registan square which is the symbol of Samarkand (15th-17th century). The Ulugbek Observatory (1428-1429) was built by the governor and scientist Ulugbek. In the afternoon visit the Shakhi-Zinda complex (14th-15th century), consisting of some mausoleums. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 11: SAMARKAND – SHAKHRISABZ – SAMARKAND (160 km + excursion + 160 km)
After breakfast, departure for Shakhrisabz. Visit to the mausoleum of the family of Tamerlane. Visit the Ak –Saray Palace, his summer residence, the imposing portal “White Gate” the complex of Khazrati-Imam, the tomb of Jehangir, the Crypt of Tamerlane, the complex of the Mosque of Kok-Gumbaz, (Friday Mosque, with the “Blue Dome”) which is under the protection of UNESCO the Mausoleum of Sheikh Shamseddin Kulyal, the Sayidan Mausoleum. At the end of the visits return to Samarkand. Free time. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12. Samarkand – Tashkent (excursion + 290 km)
Breakfast. Check out from the hotel. Excursion to the Afrosiyob Museum. It was an ancient site in northern Samarkand, which was occupied from 500 BC to 1220 AD. Today it is a hilltop mound located near the Bibi Khanaum Mosque. Daniel’s Tomb is the traditional burial place of the biblical prophet Daniel. Transfer to Tashkent. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 13. Tashkent – HOME
Take away breakfast. Transfer to Tashkent International Airport and departure with TURKISH or AEROFLOT flight.
