La capitale Baku

Ateshgah
The Ateshgah of Baku, often called the “Fire Temple of Baku,” is a syncretic temple in the city of Surakhany (in the Surakhany district). Sarah Ashurbeyli notes that Atsh is a distorted form of Atesh (“fire”) and Atshi-Baguan means “Fires of Baguan,” referring to Baku. The word Baguan derives from the Old Persian word Baga, meaning “God,” and Bhaga. Baku takes its name from Bagavan/Bagawan/Baguan/Bhagawan. It was called Bagavan during the Sassanid period (224–651 CE).
Gobustan (Qobustan)
Another must-see is Gobustan National Park, famous for its rock carvings dating back thousands of years. These ancient paintings offer a unique glimpse into the prehistoric life and culture of the region. The site is also known for its mud formations and the surreal landscapes that surround it.
