Cities to visit on the 8 day trip to Uzbekistan

Tour itinerary:

Arrival early in the morning. Check in at 09:00. Breakfast. Then visit the modern city: Amir Temur square, Independence square (Mustaqillik Maydoni) and Amir Temur square. Afternoon visit the old city: the mausoleum of Abu Bakr Kaffal Shoshi, the architectural complex of Khazrat Imam of the Madrassa Barak Khan, the Telyashayakh Mosque with the immense Koran of Osman, the oldest in the world dating back to 655. Visit the Madrassa Kukeldash, the Juma Mosque, the nearby Khast Imom square. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. Transfer to the station to take the train to Samarkand 07:24 – 09:40. Arrival in Samarkand. Excursion to the archaeological museum of Afrosiab and the Daniar mausoleum (15th century) is located in a picturesque place not far from the Siyob River. Accommodation and overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast then day dedicated to the excursion to the city. Visit of the Gur-Emir mausoleum (XV century) – which means “the tomb of the emir” is located where Tamerlane and his followers are buried. The Bibi-Khanim mosque (XV century) – with gigantic architecture also built by order of Tamerlane after his campaign in India, to show his power, to do so he deported thousands of Indian artisans to Samarkand.

Timur-lan (Literally Timur the Lame, called by us Tamerlane) wanted to build the great Friday mosque in a style that would make it resemble paradise. The Registan square which is the symbol of Samarkand (XV-XVII century). The Ulugbek Observatory (1428-1429) was built by the governor and scientist Ulugbek. In the afternoon visit of the Shakhi-Zinda complex (XIV-XV century), composed of some mausoleums. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Shakhrisabz “the green city” (160 km). A small town located south of Samarkand. It is the birthplace of Tamerlane and once, probably, his fame even overshadowed that of Samarkand. He built the Ak-Saray Palace (1379-1404) “the white palace” whose size and magnificence are astonishing. The same goes for the Dorutilavat (seat of power and strength) which perhaps even surpassed the palace itself in grandeur, while other attractions include the tombs of Tamerlane’s ancestors and the gigantic Kok-Gumbaz mosque (1437) used as a mosque for Friday prayers. Transfer to Bukhara (260 km), dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. Day dedicated to the visit of Bukhara. We will visit the Ismail Samani Mausoleum, the remains of the ancient walls, the Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum, the Bolo-Hauz Mosque, the Ark ll Fortress in Zindon, the prison, the Registan square “sandy place”, the Kalon Minaret, the Kalon Mosque, the Mir-i-Arab Madrasa, the old Madrasa of Amir Khan, the Taqi-Zarganon bazaar, the Madrasa of Abul Aziz Khan; the Madrasa of Ulugbek, the Tim Abdullah Khan market, the Taqi-Telpak Furushon, a short tour of the Jewish ghetto, the Lyabi Hauz Square, the Maghoki Attar Mosque, the Taqi-Sarrafon, the Nadir Divanbegi Mosque, the Madrasa of Nadir Divanbegi; the Khanaka (hostel). Overnight at hotel.

Breakfast. Early morning breakfast and departure for Khiva. A long journey through the desert crossed by the Amu-Darya & Syr-Darya fumes, those diverted in the times of the USSR to irrigate the cotton fields and which caused the desertification of the Aral Sea. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. Visit Mohammed Amin Khan Madrasa, Kalta Minor, old Kukhna Ark Fortress. (with Zidon, Khans’ prison, Summer Mosque, Mint, Archaeological Museum, Oq Shihbobo bastion, 24m tower, Winter Mosque, Mohammed Rahkim Khan Madrasah, Silk Carpet House, Pahlavon Mohammed Mausoleum, Sayid Alauddin Mausoleum, Sherghozi Khan Madrasah/Mosque, Islom Madrasah, Uch Avlya Mausoleum, Juma Mosque, Dost Alyam Madrasah, Tosh-Khovli Palace and Kutlimurodimok Madrasah, Alloquli Khan Madrasah, typical bazaar and Alloqulihon caravanserai, Aq Mosque, Anusha Khan Baths. Transfer to Urgench International Airport and departure for HOME.
